Rainbow Company Rehearsal Materials
🌈 Rainbow Company
Your Half-Term Acting Challenge!
Rainbow Company, you have so many different characters to bring to life in The Wizard of Oz!
From the excited Munchkins to the mysterious Apple Trees, the citizens of Emerald City and the Wicked Witch's Winkies, you're helping us create a whole world full of unforgettable characters.
This half term, your mission is to make those characters even more believable!
🎭 Your MUST-DO Challenges
1. Munchkinland
Remember your Munchkin character. How do they stand, move and react?
Think through everything that happens when Dorothy arrives and the Wicked Witch appears.
Practise reacting to the action. Remember, being on stage means performing even when you're not speaking!
2. The Apple Trees
If you're an Apple Tree, remember the movements, character and reactions we've rehearsed.
Go through the scene at home making sure you know your echo and ad-lib lines.
3. Emerald City & Winkies
Revisit your roles in the Emerald City and Winkie scenes we've worked on.
Listen to the Winkies March and practice walking in the square formation we practised.
4. Understudies
As an understudy you will be expected to step into another actors role if they are unwell. Be sure to learn your understudy lines and cues.
🌟 Your PERFORMANCE Challenge
One actor. Lots of different characters!
Choose two of your characters and practise changing between them.
Think about:
How they stand and walk.
How they react to other people.
What they're feeling.
How they use their faces and bodies.
Could somebody watching tell which character you are without you explaining?
Remember: Good actors listen and react, not just wait for their next line!
⭐ Your STAR Challenge
Choose a scene you've rehearsed and try to remember the order of events. Can you explain exactly what happens, what your character does and what tells you it's time to act?
✅ Are You Ready?
I remember what happens in the scenes we've rehearsed.
I know my character's movements and reactions.
I can make my different characters feel different.
I stay in character, even when I'm not speaking.
